Bankart Repair

A Bankart repair is a surgical procedure used to fix a torn glenoid labrum in the shoulder and treat recurrent shoulder dislocations.

When the ring of cartilage around the shoulder socket which is called labrum, tears away from the rim of the glenoid bone, which is usually caused by an anterior shoulder dislocation, is known as a Bankart lesion.

The objective of the surgery is to reattach and tightens the torn labrum and joint capsule back to the bone using special suture anchors, thus restore joint stability and prevent future dislocations.
