Fracture Fixation

Fracture fixation is an orthopedic procedure is used to treat broken bones so they can heal correctly and realign and stabilize.

Main Types of Fixations:

Internal Fixation: Metal devices like plates, screws, and intramedullary nails directly placed onto or inside the broken bone through a surgical cut.
External Fixation: Doctors insert pins or wires through the skin into the bone, attaching them to an external metal frame or scaffold outside the body to hold the pieces in place till they are healed.
Conservative/Closed Reduction: Non-surgical management using casts, splints, or braces to align and protect the bone.
